Sharing

The boys and I took advantage of the beautifully mild and sunny day and headed out to the park. We went to the local park so we could walk there. I brought the boys each a package of bear paw cookies for a snack while we were at the park. Jameson gobbled his down in no time at all. Stellan ate his at a leisurely pace, savouring each bite. Stellan even saved the second cookie for the trip home.
The kids were on the swings for quite a while but then I had them get off to go on the equipment since my arms were getting sore. They had a blast running around the play equipment, running up the stairs or climbing the rock wall, and sliding down the slide. It sure tired them out. :)
On the way back Stellan decided to enjoy his second cookie. Jameson whined for another cookie as well but I explained that he already had two. I get that it's difficult for a 3 year old to understand that concept so I asked Stellan if he would let Jameson have a bite. Being the sweet little boy that he can sometimes be, he offered his cookie to Jameson. Being the stinker that he can sometimes be, Jameson took the cookie and managed to shove half the cookie in his mouth one swift bite. What a bugger! I had to hide my face in my coat because I was laughing so hard. He sure knew how to get what he wanted. Poor Stellan didn't even notice. They're a great combination!

Our New "Friend"

Well, I finally heard the mouse last night. James had just finished reading and turned off his light when I heard some scratching/running noises in the wall of our bedroom. Yuck! It sounded small like a mouse. It ran one way and then back the other way. At first I thought my ears were hearing things and didn't say anything. Then I heard it go back and I rolled over and asked James if he had heard it. Yep, he did. Sheesh.

We did set up a trap last night. James put a bit of peanut butter on the trap and set it in the furnace room. I checked this morning and everything was where we left it. I guess he was too busy roaming the upstairs that he didn't head back down there for a snack. Maybe tonight....

I can't say that I'm afraid of it, afterall, I'm quite a bit larger than it is, but I still don't want to encounter it. Everytime I open the pantry I expect to see little beady eyes peering back at me.

Visitors

I believe we have once again hosted an unwanted visitor. I went into the furnace/storage/pantry room to get the vacuum this morning when I noticed a potato on the floor with nibble marks on it. They were to small to be Jameson or Stellan's (besides, there is a child lock on the door). That leads me to believe we have mouse/mice/somethingcreepy in our house. YIKES!!!
I was sitting on the sofa reading to the boys and I couldn't help but thinking that something was going to crawl over my shoulder or run across my lap.
Time to call the landlady and have her call the exterminator!!!

Shopping

Well, I had to do it again. I actually had to take my kids grocery shopping with me. As many are aware, it's an event I dread (with good reason). I needed to get some things for dinner tonight and therefore, it was rather urgent.
We headed out to Wegman's, the world's greatest grocery store, to get a handful of items. We stopped in their wine shop to pick up some wine and beer for this evening. For some reason it just feels wrong to put a bottle of wine in the bottom of the stroller. I guess that makes it even worse to have my 3 and a half year old carry the 12 bottles of Heineken on his lap. :)
We then headed over to the regular part of the grocery store. The boys love love love the dairy section because there is a model train that runs overhead. Last time we were there, the train was not working and it was quite a meltdown for the boys. Thank God it was working today and it provided some amusement for the boys.
Upon checkout I thought I was picking the candy free lane. I put my items on the belt and noticed that it was definitely not a candy free lane. It also happened to be the slowest lane I've even been in. Too late, the stuff was unloaded. I had to stand at the end of the lane so the boys wouldn't grab, open and eat the candy that wasn't supposed to be there. Hmmm....maybe I should have let them and then refused to pay saying that it wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. Truthfully, not worth it, I would have to deal with the sugar high. The reason the line was going so slowly was due to the nice but overly chatty cashier, Sheldon. Not sure why I remember his name, maybe because the name seems to fit his personality. Anyway, after he proceeded to tell me about the milk that his mother bought that ended up going bad after three days and the fact that the grocery bags you can purchase at the store fall apart after washing them, I was finally on my way out. We unloaded the bags and then headed over to Target. You have to love these commercial developments that have every store possible in one area, talk about convenience!!
I had a bag to return to Target. The kids loved watching themselves on the security tv while I finished the transaction. Off we headed to find a replacement bag and scour the store for sales. I found a cute bag and the track pants that I love (it's great being a stay-at-home mom!) were on sale for 50% off. Bonus!!! Picked up a pair of cute shoes for Jameson (Stellan didn't think they were comfortable enough therefore he chose not to get any). Finally we were on our way to the checkout. Knowing that I always pay with my credit card (you've gotta love airmiles!!) Jameson said he wanted to sign my name. I told him he could help me. As I grabbed the pen he dictated what I should sign, M-O-M. How adorable is that?!?!? Life through the eyes of a three year old.
