Touch It

There are certain thoughts that run through a mother's head when she hears "touch it" coming from her three year old's mouth. The images are especially graphic when she knows the aforementioned three year old is in the bathroom with his two year old brother; a little guy who will do anything to please his older brother.
Needless to say when I heard these words I quickly ran into the bathroom. It was at that point that I found Stellan splashing around in the toilet where his brother had just gone pee. Lovely. I'd heard the toilet flush but knowing Stellan's flushing obsession I figured that could have been before, during or after the pee. So, who knows if there was actual urine in the toilet while he was splashing. I'm not one to take chances. I offered some choice words to the boys and tried to instill in them the idea of that actually being gross rather than fun. Stellan looked at Jameson and laughed seeing as his older brother was quite pleased by the action. Jameson looked at me and said, "But Mommy, I didn't touch it. Stellan did."
"I realize that honey but you were the one telling him to do it."
"But Mommy, I didn't touch it." (He looked at me like I was totally missing the point. He thought he was the "good" one because he didn't do it. Forget coming up with the idea and making his impressionable little brother do it.)
Regardless, I scrubbed Stellan's hands (and Jameson's) and sent them on their way. Now it's my goal to distract Stellan and stop him from joining Jameson in the bathroom.
